Ambulance Attendant
This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide lifesaving interventions while awaiting additional EMS response and to assist higher level personnel at the scene and during transport. Ambulance attendants are a pivotal part of our EMS team – assisting the EMT-Basic. Ambulance attendants perform skills including CPR, bandaging, splinting, and oxygen administration. Training is approximately 50 hours and is provided within Pike County.
Emergency Medical Technician
The primary focus of the Emergency Medical Technician is to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance. The Emergency Medical Technician is a link from the scene to the hospital. EMTs perform skills including bleeding control, bag-mask ventilation, CPR, oxygen administration, splinting, immobilizations, and patient assisted medication administration. Training is approximately 130 hours and is available within Pike County.
Emergency Vehicle Operator
The driver (emergency vehicle operator) is responsible for the safe transportation of the patient, crew members and others in the vehicle. The driver is responsible for the protection of the ambulance and its equipment. The driver must be extremely alert to the safety of others including crew members and other vehicles on the roadway. Training is approximately 16 hours and available within Pike County.
Telephone Operator
The Telephone Operator does his/her job from the comfort of their home! When a 911 call goes out in Delaware Township, the Telephone Operator is responsible for getting a 2nd ambulance crew on "alert" for any possible call that may go out while the first ambulance crew is busy on the 1st call.
