Training

Delaware Township Volunteer Ambulance provides its members with outstanding training taught by experienced instructors including paramedics, nurses, doctors, firefighters, and law enforcement officers. Throughout the year our members attend educational conferences and classes in order to build upon their initial training. DTVAC is accredited through the PA Department of Health as a Continuing Education Sponsor. CPR classes are held throughout the year at our building. Water Rescue & Emergency Response (Phase 1)
August 7th and 8th    8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Masthope Ski Lodge
16.5 Hour Class
6 PA DOH Con-Ed Credits (1.5 M/T  5.0 other)
Prerequisites: Current CPR, Ability to swim 50 yards.
Description:  This 16-hour course includes many valuable swift-water rescue techniques. The course provides the base on which all other PA Fish & Boat Commission courses are built. Using both classroom and practical hands-on training, Water Rescue & Emergency Response covers planning, medical considerations, rescue equipment, self-rescue and shore-based rescue techniques. This course meets or exceeds NFPA 1670 operator level guidelines.
Equipment: Students will need swimsuit, towels, get wet clothing for prevailing weather conditions, whistle, PFD, and water rescue helmet (if available).
 
 
 
Water Rescue / Line Systems Rescue - FCLS
August 21st and 22nd     8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Tafton Fire House
12.5 Hour Class
No continuing education credits
Prerequisites: Water Rescue & Emergency Response
Description:  This 12-hour program involves skills needed to set up and understand horizontal line systems used in advanced water rescue operations. 
Equipment: Students will need swimsuit, towels, get wet clothing for prevailing weather conditions, whistle, PFD, and water rescue helmet (if available).
